Feature Proposal: FIXEDTOPMENU preferences setting
Motivation
The pulldown menus of the
TopMenuSkin are a convenient shortcut to access frequently needed links quickly. If the page is scrolled down those links are inaccessible.
Description and Documentation
Add new FIXEDTOPMENU preferences setting, option off and on:
- on: The menu-bar is always visible at the top, regardless of the window scroll position
- off: The menu-bar hides when scrolled, and can be shown by hovering over - the gray TWiki icon in the upper left corner
If you want to try it out, add the following to the preferences setting of your profile page
TWikiGuest
* Fixed [[%SYSTEMWEB%.TopMenuSkin#FixedTopMenu][pulldown menu-bar]], on or off. The menu-bar hides automatically if off.
* Set FIXEDTOPMENU = off

Implementation
This is a no-brainer feature, tracked in
TWikibug:Item6934.
It is already implemented, it was relatively easy with the help of some jQuery event handler magic. The latest
TopMenuSkin is installed on TWiki.org so that you can try it out.

Discussion
Accepted by 7-days rule.
Since this feature is part of the skin, it went to core and 5.1 branch. With this, the feature was released last weekend with the release of
TWikiRelease05x01x02.
