Minutes of Interim Governance Team Skype conference call, 19th Sept 2008

Follow this link to the agenda

The IG team offers apologies to the community for being so slow; we are trying.

  • Timeline (agenda point 1)
    • All present agreed that we will have the letter to TWIKI.NET drafted, reviewed and sent by Monday 18:00 GMT. We will propose a conference-call follow up with TWIKI.NET.
  • Letter to TWIKI.NET regarding open points on trademark (agenda points 2, 3, 4, 5)
    • Main business of the meeting was the agreement of points for a letter to TWIKI.NET. We have decided that these points have to be discussed in camera, due to their sensitive nature.
    • Action: CC: communicate progress to community (minutes of this meeting) DONE
    • Action: KL to send proposed language regarding TM attribution to AH ASAP DONE as complete new letter
    • Action: AH to draft letter by evening Sunday DONE by KL
  • All present agree that even given "a cloud hanging over the trademark" that should not prevent TWiki.org from proceeding with business (point 6 on the agenda)
  • Community rules of association (agenda point 7)
    • LB has sourced several useful links giving exemplars (linked from InterimGovernanceTeamAgenda)
    • AH wrote to foundations lists, but response too specific to be useful
    • KL reluctantly accepted a kick in the nuts for not acting on this, will conference with LB mid-week to review progress
    • Action: KL to review and summarise material already posted DONE
    • Action: LB and KL to conference mid-week to review progress DONE via email
  • Task teams (agenda point 8)
    • Several task-teams have been proposed, need to help them bootstrap
    • A number more are missing
    • Action: CC to summarise task-teams waiting for charter, and assign to IGT members to support them DONE

Update from CrawfordCurrie - 28 Sep 2008

I'm sorry to have to tell you that the letter still hasn't been sent to TWIKI.NET. This is mainly due to high pressures on the availability of the IGT members, all of whom are currently very busy people, making it extremely difficult to organise meetings and get timely responses to issues. I believe we are all committed to moving ahead, but it's extremely difficult to find a consensus.

Update from KennethLavrsen - 29 Sep 2008

Above statement is not accurate. We reached a consensus among 4 of us on the 17th. A draft letter has been written and reviewed and rewritten and is ready to be sent. The major part of the content of the letter was acknowledged by the 5th member by email on the 17th. As the letter is about to be sent the 5th person decides to block sending the email and retracts the statements from his email from the 17th and present a very hostile attitude against TWiki.net. He gets support from 2 to hold back sending the letter. There is still no agreement when to meet and discuss.

I am not happy with the current situation and am considering to send out the email we cannot send for public review instead.

Question from WolfMarbach - 07 Oct 2008

My apologies, if my question is not placed well here, but since we do not have a forum it is hard to follow up, what is going on. Please could one of you involved provide an update on progress clarifying the relationship between twiki.org and twiki.net?

Update from KennethLavrsen - 07 Oct 2008

The Interim Governance Team (IGT) finally reached consensus on the email to TWiki.net and Peter. The email was sent 04 Oct 2008. The content of the email is not made public as we want to enable the two parties to be able to negotiate without too much public pressure and to not give away the degree of freedom we have decided for within the IGT.

I can say though that the way the IGT members were put together we represent the full specter of opinions of the community which is why it took so long to reach consensus within the IGT itself.

The IGT hopes to have a response from TWiki.net and Peter this week and hopefully also a conference call with them.

On the formation of the TWiki Association things are moving fast now. You can follow the development on TWikiAssociationBylawsTaskTeam.
