Maybe this would be a good page to mention and discuss the "500 Internal Server Errors" that occur quite frequently on twiki.org?

IIUC, they are [usually | often | sometimes] a SourceForge problem rather than a twiki.org problem.

Therefore, I for one have resolved to send a support request to SourceForge anytime the error occurs for me. But, maybe I'd be issusing some false alarms if some are due to twiki.org (or to failure of my own Internet connection)?

Aside: The last two times I attempted to notify SourceForge by email did not work because of a mismatch in configuration between SourceForge and my ISP (SourceForge always queries the ISP of a received email to confirm the sender has a valid email address, my ISP does not respond to those queries as a matter of policy - they are concerned that some spammers would use that mechanism to obtaion email addresses that they could use for sending spam (IIUC).

Therefore, I must send my support requests either from a webmail account (which I have yet to setup), or by filling out a support form at SourceForge (<space reserved for the URL>).

The reason I mention this here is that maybe PeterThoeny prefers that the effort be coordinated -- when such errors occur it might be better for one and only one person to report them to SourceForge. Maybe Peter would want to do that himself, maybe someone wants to volunteer to be the "notifier", maybe several people are willing to volunteer on a rotating basis. We might post the email address of the current reporter (and / or the schedule) on this or some linked page.

The TWiki scripts have a very sluggish performance today and also fail intermittently with a "500 Internal Server Error" again. I filed support request 200001.

I've likewise filed issues at sourceforge recently for sluggish performance or dns lookup errors. It seems they are experiencing load problems on their web servers. Luckily I'm able to test via two different networks and the problems have always pointed to sourceforge so far. Though, I haven't seen error 500; I usually get dns timeout.

INCLUDEs don't work from TWiki.org due to SourceForge restrictions.

-- RichardDonkin - 16 May 2003

Is this documented somewhere?

-- MartinCleaver - 17 May 2003

It's probably on Codev somewhere, should be linked from SourceForge since it's not a TWiki issue.

For a week now mail from SF was very unreliable and had long delays. Mail does not work at all since yesterday. User registration and WebNotify email are out of order. I filed support request 795817. I will let you know when this is fixed.

For now I disabled the error message on user registration to make registration work (albeit without email.)

Request 795817 just got closed with the answer. I reconfigured the SMTP server in TWikiPreferences. WebNotify and TWikiRegistration should be functional again. Thank you for your patience smile

I have limited time right now, more l8er...

E-mail notification for TWikiRegistrations works now at TWiki.org, but I do not yet get WebNotify e-mails. Not sure why this is because the same setup is used to send mail. Please let us know in case you get the WebNotify e-mails.

Again, SF trouble. I get now this error when saving a topic:

/usr/bin/ci -q -l -m'none' -t-none -w'PeterThoeny' /home/groups/t/tw/twiki/p/data/Codev/SourceForge.txt 2>&1
ci: /tmp/T2aA8Gs6: No space left on device
  ci aborted

We are still configuring the new server, and need to solve some issues before we can switch over.

I temporarily disabled edit and attach. Now I enabled it again, SF seems to be restored.

-- PeterThoeny - 23 Oct 2003

Not sure if this is the right place to report this, and it's probably no news for anyone, but I'm still not receiving any WebNotify messages. Real bummer 8-(

Got my first batch of notifications in months on Jan 9th! Excellent! It's working again - or so I thought. Haven't received anything since.
