Answer

To remove the user homepages from the Main web, you can either (using the browser) rename them and put them in the Trash web, or (using the server) simply delete the .txt and .txt,v files.

Be sure to also remove the lines with their names from the .htpasswd file. By doing so, you remove their logon and password from the system. On a firewalled (corporate) TWiki, this will not really be necessary since they can't get to your site in the first place. On a public TWiki, you could leave them registered so they can participate on your site, or remove them if you prefer.

I don't know why there are some persons registered in the distribution at all, apart from the TWikiGuest which is useful until you've got your site completely set up (at which point you could disable that account too if you prefer).

The Web servers facilities are used to let users log in. If you are using apache then they entries are in .htpasswd, which by default for TWiki is in the data directory. So strip out entries here to get rid of entries you don't want. I think you'll find certain peoples' home pages are distributed with TWiki so that links work in the documentation.

changed SupportStatus to answered.

This is a frequently asked question. I think there needs to be a mechanism to either <nop> the core team user names before distribution and distribute an empty user web (aka %MAINWEB%) or create topics for them in the TWiki web. At the very least the password file should be stripped before distributing.

I know this has been discussed at least a couple of times already but I can't find the topics right now. Closest is StartWithACleanSlate
