Answer

ALERT! If you answer a question - or have a question you asked answered by someone - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status is in a drop-down list below the edit box.

Jump to TWiki.ManagingWebs in your TWiki installation and simply create the new Web with the provided form. The TWiki-Documentation is found in the TWiki Web as well. If you Browse your TWiki-Web you will find the most relevant links in the left bar, incl. the link to the TWiki.TWikiReferenceManual

Is thera any documentation in detail?

-- SucharithMenon - 27 Jun 2006

I am unable to understand the basic concept and i would appreciate any help in the same and if you can also explain _default concept and is it necessary to use TWikiforms & TWikiTemplates? to create a web?

-- SucharithMenon - 27 Jun 2006

You think too much smile

As Cedric already said. On your local TWiki you look up ...TWiki/ManagingWebs.

Fill out the form

Hit the "Create new web" button and BAM! you have a new web. If you do nothing additional it base the new web on a hidden web called _default.

You cannot see this web in the left bar but you can look it up in the browser. ...view/_default/WebHome

Anything you change in this web will automatically be in any new web you create. The ManagingWebs also tells how to make a template web. But start with the simple case. Fill out the form. Leave the "Based on web" field to "_defailt" and submit and you have a new web.

It is very simple.

This was helpful information and confirms that I've succeeded in correctly added a new web. However, why doesn't this new web always display along with the other webs? (Main, Sandbox TWiki)

-- LynAndersen - 05 Jul 2006

I guess this is how it's supposed to work: a hidden web is hidden in the left bar from all users, from everywhere in the site except when you are in the hidden web itself. The only way to get there from the Main web, for example, is through Search or Go. It would be nicer if the hidden web were listed in the left bar for members of the TWiki group allowed to view it from the Main web at the onset, but maybe this could be a refinement for a later day.
