Question

Our users would like to be able to "check-in" and "check-out" documents stored on our TWiki pages as attachments. I cannot see a way to do this -- but I am thinking that others must have come up against this before? Is there a way to lock an attachment (for check-out) and unlock the attachment (when checking in)?

Environment

TWiki version: TWikiRelease04x01x02
TWiki plugins: DefaultPlugin, EmptyPlugin, InterwikiPlugin
Server OS: RedHat Linux
Web server: IBM WebSphere
Perl version: Perl 5
Client OS: MS Windows XP
Web Browser: IE
Categories: Permissions, Version control, Missing functionality

mmm, this would be a relativly simple Plugin to write, but I don't recal anyone releasing one that does it no. If you need help - see ConsultantsForHire and CodersForHire.

I am thinking about implementing this. My first attempt would be to disable the 'Upload File' button in the attach template if the attachment comment filed contains a specific string (e.g. "LOCKED"). *Question:*Does anyone know if there's already a function to pull the comment field out of the META:FILEATTACHMENT line in the topic ?
