SID-01294: Using variables in include path

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 5.0.2 Perl version:
Category: CategoryMissingFunctionality Server OS: Last update: 11 years ago

Hi all,

I have a twiki page that includes another page. The page I would like to include is not a twiki page, it is another page that contains some text in twiki formate, but this page is not under twiki topics hierarchy. It is stored in a storage accessible by HTTP.

The name of this page changes each Wednesday (a newly created file). The name of this page is [YYMMDD -- the date].twiki.txt

So, I would like to make my INCLUDE statement something like the following:

%INCLUDE{http://mymachine.intr.com/%MY_VARIABLE%.twiki.txt}%

Where MY_VARIABLE, is a variable that contains the date. When I tried that I got the message:

%RED% Failed to include URL %ENDCOLOR% <url path> %RED% Bad Request %ENDCOLOR%

Any help please ?

Discussion and Answer

How did you define %MY_VARIABLE%? A preferences setting? Is the date hard-coded or calculated with a SpreadSheetPlugin CALC? Normally, variables get evaluated inside out and left to right (IOLR). Some variables that do not declare their existence to TWiki do not get evaluated IOLR, such as CALC. In this case you have to delay the evaluation. Can't help without more details.

I would like to include the rows of a table, but I'm having 2 problems:

  • I can't exclude the header
  • the original table is handled with the EditRowPlugin and when I include the table I also get the first column with the edit icon; I would like to exclude the first column, as the pasted rows should not be editable with this plugin

I'm trying hard with regex ('pattern' parameter) but without luck so far.

Any hints?

Thank you

Thomas,

Your's is a separate question. It would have been better to start a new question topic.

Have you tried using sections to only include the portions of the topic you are interested in including?

See: VarSTARTSECTION and VarENDSECTION
