Question
We are trying to setup a way for users to "subscribe" to desired topics (of any type, of any level), and get an email notification of the change whenever their subscribed topics are edited and saved. Ideally the user could optionally get notified of related sub-topic changes (by setting the depth of the tree of children below the subscribed topic).
WebNotify appears to provide this feature, however we have not been able to get this to work. Instead, anytime that any topic is edited.. the subscribed users are get flooded with emails notifications about ALL topic changes within that web, including the topics they are not subscribed to. Since topics change a few times a day, subscribed users get many emails a day for topics they are not interested in. This happens even when the user is subscribed using the following
WebNotify formats:
- three spaces * [ webname . ] wikiName - SMTP mail address
- three spaces * [ webName . ] wikiName
- three spaces * SMTP mail address
- three spaces * SMTP mail address : topics
- three spaces * [ webname . ] wikiName : topics
We followed the
WebNotify documentation very carefully, but have had no luck with specific topic subscriptions. We have also tried the
ImidiateNotifyPluigin with no luck either.
Any suggestions on what we might be doing wrong? Or alternative solutions?
Thank you,
AM
