iRulu 10.1" Model AX105 with Android 4.2

Host vs. USB Ports

There are two ports which use a USB jack on the iRulu AX105. One is labeled Host, the other has the typical USB icon (sort of showing 3 wires interconnected to 1).

I don't know what the difference is between these two ports. So far, in my incidental testing, I've found very little difference--the one difference I think I saw (I'd like to confirm someday) was that configuring an external USB keyboard seemed somewhat problematic when plugged into the Host port, while I experienced no problems configuring it when it was plugged into the USB port.

I should point out that after the keyboard was configured, I could plug it into the USB or Host port, and use the OTG or a non-OTG cable, and the keyboard was detected promptly and worked fine in all 4 configurations.

I do know that the Host port is somehow intended to make one of a pair of devices internconnected using that port to act as a Host, but I don't know whether the iRulu acts as the host, the other device (if capable, like a computer) acts as a host, or if it is somehow configurable.

I think an OTG (On The Go) cable which might be used to connect two such devices using the Host port might have an influence on that, as the two ends of an OTG cable have slightly different wiring. See OTG vs. Standard USB Cables.
