What the hell is WikiLearn, Twiki?

Linux Audio has been build over WikiLearn, a bunch of wiki http://twiki.org based) sites of many subjects. This is why the parent of all Linux Audio pages is Wikilearn. Finally Twiki provides us powerfull wiki tools to edit our pages.

Registering...

Register to TWiki if you want to own a login name (You are only asked about your name and your email). Otherwise you can also login as user "TWikiGuest" with password "guest" to edit the pages.

How to create a new page

To create a new page, you only have to type in your browser "http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Wikilearn/NAME_OF_THE_PAGE".
If the pages already exists, you will see it, otherwise a page is displayed indicating that "this page doesn't exists". Here you will find a "Create" option at the bottom. But wait!! You must first chose the right name.

Chosing the right name

All pages consist generally of two words, which have the first letter capital.
Each time that a page or a subtopic is created in a topic, we add to the name of the page a prefix which contains the capital letters of its parent page.
That's why all subtopics of LinuxAudio have been named with prefix "LA" (i.e. LA_SoundCards, LA_SoundFonts, etc)
More generally, in LA_SoundCards, you can see as the page about the "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy OEM" specific sound card is named "LA_SC_Creative_SBAudigyOEM". "SC" indicates that its parent is LA_SoundCards and "LA" indicates that its grandpa is LinuxAudio wink

Setting its parent page

Pages of Wikilearn always have a parent. LinuxAudio, for instance, has Wikilearn as its parent. All subtopics of LinuxAudio (LA_SoundCards, LA_SoundFonts,etc) have LinuxAudio as their parent, all cards of LA_SoundCards (like LA_SC_Creative_SBAudigyOEM) have LA_SoundCards as their parent, etc.
After creating the page, you will be able to set its parent clicking on "More topic actions" at the bottom of the page.

Creating its content for the first time

Each topic has a template page. For example, LinuxAudio subtopics have been created following the LA_Template page, all LA_SoundCards subpages have been created following the LA_SC_Template page. Please follow this notation and our work will get easier.

Renaming a page

Wikilearn give us a powerful tool to change the name of a page and all references that have been made to this page at Wikilearn pages.
Go to the page which you want to rename; at the bottom at the page click on "More topic actions" again, chose "Rename/Move Topic" and follow the instructions.
Finally we will ask you to create a new page with the name of the old page and a message: "This page has been moved to OLD_PAGE. Sorry for the incovenience." It's not important the parentage of this page. It's just something to avoid dead links.
