  • (rhk) The Wonderful World of Linux 2.6; Joseph Pranevich — a long (wordy) summary of changes in the 2.6 kernel (see next reference for a bullet list), including support of my impression that 2.6 is the first to support pre-emptive multitasking (or maybe I'm confused — the article clearly talks about a pre-emptible kernel, — maybe some sort of pre-emptive multitasking (but not fully pre-emptive??) was in use before now??

  • (rhk) Kernel Traffic #216 For 20May; Zack Brown; ; — discussing what the criteria will (may?) be for release of 2.6 — partially summarizing: anything that runs on 2.4.xx should run when 2.6.0(??) comes out.
