RAM (Random Access Memory) is the memory that is generally easiest for the computer CPU? to get access to. (How should I distinguish main RAM (main memory??) from the caches that are now usually the "easiest for the CPU to get access to") And, maybe I need a page on the changes that have and will occur in the computer field, and the need / means to stay up-to-date.

Some other types of memory:

  • ROM? (PROM? , EPROM? , EEPROM? )
  • [ volatile? | non-volatile? ]
  • permanent (??)
  • disk
  • core? (magnetic core? ) -- should I even mention it??
  • main memory? | cache?

Or, am I getting too far afield of the "Wikilearn mission" -- no -- I don't think so -- I may be biting off more than I can chew (at least in terms of time), but hopefully some Wikilearn collaborators will eventually come to my rescue.
