SwenDeleter is a Perl program to delete emails containing the Swen.A(?) virus from your email provider before downloading them.

Sounds like just what I need.

Here's the home page.

I'm also copying then summarizing the homepage here so I can open this on my (local) email server and install it — I'll remove everything that pertains to Windows (but note if you're reading this that SwenDeleter works in Linux, OS/2, and Windows (and maybe more??)).

condensed from the SwenDeleter Home Page — see that page for information on false positives and negatives, the latest release, and so forth

(Source, requires Perl and Net::POP3)

Just unpack the selected SwenDeleter distribution in a directory of your choice and be sure the following requirements are alright:

  SwenDeleter requires Perl and Graham Barr's Net::POP3 Perl module,
  which can be installed system-wide running the following command as

    # perl -MCPAN -e 'install Net::POP3'

  or locally following the instructions you'll find in this FAQ:

    $ perldoc -q 'my own module'

Usage of the source code version (system independent):

  Interactive mode: perl swendeleter.pl -s server -l login -p password
  Nonstop mode:     perl swendeleter.pl -s server -l login -p password -n
