Google seems to reindex twiki.org at least once every two weeks and perhaps as often as once a week, and I am no longer attempting to check regularly. See Notes on Google Search, below.
Web Search
This was an experiment that I've now decided to leave in place. The discussion and notes that were here have been deleted (with a few exceptions, below) but are available in r1.26 of this page.
- The TWiki searches are "real time" (occur when you request a search). Google searches are based on an index that is updated only periodically (currently as often as once a week). If you want to search for recently added information, use a TWiki search.
- Google indexes twiki.org as both twiki.org and as twiki.sourceforge.net. The indexing cycles (dates) and indexing criteria may be slightly different.
- Google doesn't support (AFAIKSF) limiting the search to the page name (topic) or body only. The TWiki searches work well for that.
- Google doesn't support stemming / wild cards (can't search for mangl or mangl* to find mangle, mangling, or whatever). The TWiki searches work that way by default, and the advanced search can use regular expressions.
