vergilIs there any generally agreed upon ldap setup for Twiki? I've seen a *lot* of different answers in the support section
Neither LdapConfig or LdapPlugin seem to be blessed for 5.x

gavinranyone here?
how do i set up LDAP Authentication with twiki?
[22:51]
........ (idle for 39mn)
peterthoenygavinr: ldap setup can be tricky
for what twiki version?
[23:31]
gavinroh
hey
5.0.1
I tried to set up Ldap_collab,
but it didn't work
[23:39]
CMOT-WeaselDepends if you're trying to set it up with a pre-established LDAP/AD server [23:41]
gavinryes it is pre-established [23:41]
CMOT-WeaselIf not, it's a nightmare. If so, it's a nightmare with big stabby things attached. [23:41]
gavinrhaha
any tips or howtos?
[23:42]
peterthoenythere are two ways to authenticate user against ldap in twiki
1. outside twiki on apache level
2. with twiki plugin
on 1, apache level:
twiki can process a REMOTE_USER env variable
if you use one of the apache modules for user auth you can pass the authenticated user to twiki via that env variable
on 2, with twiki plugin
there is an LdapContrib, http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/LdapContrib
that does the user auth against ldap
[23:54]
gavinrI want to do version 1 [23:57]
peterthoenythe problem is we have not yet tested the ldapcontrib against twiki-5.0 [23:57]
gavinrI tried 2, got it installed, but did not have the correct dependancies
so if i do it on the apache level, i just have to change Twiki.conf?
[23:57]
peterthoenyi have done option 2 many times [23:58]
gavinrwill the user still have to login via the normal login form? [23:58]
peterthoenyi can't give you advise on option 1 [23:58]
gavinrhm
ok well maybe you can help me on LdapContrib
I got the files copied over
went into the configuration
put in my settings
changed the $TWiki::cfg{PasswordManager} to 'TWiki::Users::LdapUser';
and then got an error
