WhoWhatWhen
melvalaiPeterThoeny : http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/LdapContrib : It seems, I have to configure LDAP authentication after twiki installation. Since I am trying it first time, I would like to which authentication method I have to choose at the time of initial installation and configuration. I mean Local authentication or Apache? [00:06]
.......... (idle for 46mn)
PeterThoenymelvalai: i recommend to first get twiki installed with twiki internal auth
most installations nowadays use template login, not apache login
[00:52]
melvalailater I want to use LDAP auth. Is it possible to move from one Auth method from another? [00:56]
PeterThoenyonce template login, twiki internal auth and registration work you can switch to ldap auth
yes
[00:56]
melvalaiI have configured template login now.
I am able to register and login in twiki.
What steps need to be done to change it LDAP auth.
I think, I have to follow this http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/LdapContrib
to get it done. Am I right?

Dae`Hi
the edit link usually constructed with time parameter.. Is the edit cached intentionally so that you can view the previous versions from cache if you leave the edit accidentally / click back on the browser..?
I have a guy who does not want it to cache at all
what I mean is that if you click edit, make changes and go backwards and forwards again, the changes are still visible and the page is not reloaded.
this is not TWiki 5.0.0
I'm just wondering what the design was here

Is this the place for twiki help? [15:37]

Dae`it supposed to be
"[#twiki] Questions? Simply ask here or post a question in http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Support -- Latest TWiki5.0.2 released 2011-05-03, r21156"
it's supposed to be*
[16:15]
Life2Deaththe person who set it up left our company, and we changed admin passwords and now we cannot log in with LDAP users/passwords
:|
I just have basic linux experience, nothing with apache
it looks, from the best I can tell, that twiki is set up to use apache ldap authenticaition (TWiki::Client::ApacheLogin)

PeterThoenyLife2Death: it looks like you are using LdapContrib on an older twiki
edit your twiki/lib/LocalSite.cfg and change $TWiki::cfg{Ldap}{BindPassword}
[17:49]
...... (idle for 25mn)
Life2DeathI will investigate.
That file has no string containing "ldap"
[18:16]
Dae`look at your apache conf
there should be a bind pass there then
if you really use apache ldap authing
I think it might be somewhere like /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf. locate the httpd.conf
do you get that apache grey authentication when trying to access the server with browser?
auth box*
if you can't find it there then look for conf.d/*.conf files under the root of the apache httpd location..

Life2DeathWe only see the error when a user goes and attempts to edit a twiki document. they are asked to log in using their windows user/pass combo, and that fails. Its only started to after we changed admin passwords, and I'm assuming that was what we used to get access to the directory to authenticate. [19:42]
Dae`then I think it's what peter said...
you can try finding the line in the installation, but it really should be where he said it would be...
