PeterThoenyLahar: hat kind of access denied message do yo get?
oops, keyboard issue: "what kind..."
[21:14]
LaharPeter: It says - "Access check on Main.LaharGupta failed. Action "VIEW": access not allowed on topic. "
Peter: I added few lines to "Edit Topic preferences"
Peter: and lines were * Set Group = LaharGupta , * Set ALLOWTOPICCHANGE = LaharGuptaTwikiGroup, *Set ALLOWTOPICVIEW = LaharGuptaTopicGroup
Peter: It worked fine for a while but started giving me access denied page after that
[21:19]
PeterThoenyis that on twiki.org? [21:22]
LaharPeter: Yes, I registered and created an account on twiki.org [21:23]
PeterThoenyah, please do not restrict access on twiki.org
it is a community site that should be open to all
you can download twiki and install on your own server
[21:24]
LaharPeter: I created my own group and tried to restrict that group only
Peter: Is it not possible
Peter: ?
Peter: Can we not use twiki for a company internal use? for documentation and stuff?
Oh yes, I did downlaod it
and clicked on index.html and then registered as a user from there...Am I not doing it the right way? thanks a lot for your help!
[21:24]
PeterThoenysee http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/TWiki/WhatTWikiDotOrgIsNot
i will clean up your profile page on twiki.org
ok, i unlocked your twiki.org profile page
on your own twiki, did you follow the installation instructions?
[21:27]
LaharThanks a lot Peter! i think I saw that the link u just sent me...and downloaded the free version
so how do I restrict the access of the web page that I create?
I think I did follow the instructions but I will try again to make sure I did
[21:29]
PeterThoenyplease test access restriction on your own site, not twiki.org
access control is described at http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/TWiki/TWikiAccessControl
[21:32]
Laharthanks Peter! [21:34]

linguiniI like twiki a lot, and I manage a handful of twiki webs for a small company. Unfortunately, though, none of my coworkers seem to understand how to search "all public webs", and frequently fail to find relevant information. I've told them to use "advanced search", but I think they often simply click on the "search" box at the top of most pages. Is there some way to configure that box to search all public webs rather than the current
web?
[23:23]
PeterThoenylinguini: change the webs parameter of the search form
let me find out where...
do you use the default topmenuskin?
[23:25]
linguiniYes, I think so. [23:27]
PeterThoenyif so, modify TWiki.TopMenuSkinTopBar [23:27]
linguiniOkay, thanks! I'll give that a go. [23:28]
PeterThoenychange:
<input type="hidden" name="web" value="%BASEWEB%" />
to:
<input type="hidden" name="web" value="all" />
[23:28]
linguiniAh. Makes sense. I'll try it now... [23:28]
