WhoWhatWhen
TerjeAndersenPeterThoeny: I have some feature proposals for LdapContrib. Is Plugins.LdapContribDev the correct place to discuss these? I created Codev.MigrateToLdapUserMappingSupport, but the Codev feature proposals is maybe not for Plugins and Extensions? [08:00]
PeterThoenyhi terje, either place is fine
sorry, i have not yet looked at your proposal
[08:03]
TerjeAndersenno worries [08:04]
PeterThoenyjust glanced over it, looks useful! [08:04]
TerjeAndersennice :-) i have implemented it locally and it seems to be working without errors [08:05]
PeterThoenythe ldapcontrib at http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/LdapContrib has a "PleaseFeelFreeToModify" modification policy
that means you can go ahead and implement this enhancement
[08:06]
TerjeAndersenthe plan is to launch it on the production servers in a months time with around 38000 potential twiki users, will be exciting to see... [08:06]
PeterThoenycool!
that would be one of the largest twiki
[08:06]
TerjeAndersenyep, the correct place to implement it is in /trunk/LdapContrib ? [08:06]
PeterThoenythe largest i am aware of is morgan stanley with over 20k active users [08:07]
TerjeAndersenwell, only a small amount of these users will actually be using TWiki i think
mhm, I think they have a larger active user base than us (Cern)
[08:07]
PeterThoenyyou have commit access to svn trunk and twiki-5.1 branch
so you can do the checkin directly
[08:08]
TerjeAndersenmhm
commits to trunk requires a bug-item correct? while the branch does not?
[08:08]
PeterThoenyyes, system of record for most extensions is svn trunk
yes, you need to create a bug item for each feature or bug fix
checkin only works with bug item number
such as: svn ci -m "Item1234: Adding blah blah"
[08:09]
TerjeAndersenyep [08:10]
PeterThoenyi usually copy the changes of extensions also to the 5.1 branch [08:11]
TerjeAndersenyeah, was about to ask
you can use the same Item number on the branch commit, or isnt it needed?
[08:11]
PeterThoenyso that trunk and latest branch are in sync [08:11]
TerjeAndersenyes [08:11]
PeterThoenyyes, same number, same comment
are you subscribed to [twiki-dev] mainline list?
[08:11]
TerjeAndersenthe zip file on Plugins.LdapContrib is generated manually?
yes I am
[08:11]
PeterThoeny"mailing list" - stupid auto correction :-)
yes, by the build script
after checkin you can build
cd LdapContrib
cd lib/TWiki/Contrib/LdapContrib
./build upload
this builds the packages and also uploads them to twiki.org
[08:12]
TerjeAndersennice :-) [08:13]
PeterThoenysee also http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/BuildContribCookbook [08:14]
TerjeAndersenwill do [08:14]
PeterThoenyanything else at this point? let me know, else i am ready to go to sleep [08:17]
TerjeAndersenNope, basically you're saying that I can go ahead and implement what I think its right
And if someone disagrees, they roll it back, or discuss it with me in LdapContribDev, for example
[08:18]
PeterThoenyyes, which rarely happens [08:21]
TerjeAndersen:)
Allright, thanks for your help now.. Have a good sleep!
[08:22]
PeterThoenysometimes some unintended things happen, it's discussed and then the person making the enhancement fixes it usually
all very casual
[08:22]
TerjeAnderseni see [08:22]
PeterThoenylooking forward seeing your enhancements!
ttyl terje!
[08:23]
