Subject: KampalaMeetingLog2016x06x02.txt Date: June 2, 2016 3:41:27 PM PDT #twiki_release: [15:10] == peterthoeny__ [46d50bb4@gateway/web/freenode/ip.70.213.11.180] has joined #twiki_release [15:10] am i on? [15:10] yes, you are, Peter [15:10] Apparently you are, Peter.  Hello! [15:10] good, finally [15:11] sorry for the delay [15:11] not sure why my irc client did not work over hotspot [15:11] hi HideyoImazu-san & HaraldJoerg! [15:11] your hotspot by iPhone? [15:12] yes, verizon [15:12] maybe there was some abuse from verizon customers, hence the stricter auth requirement? [15:12] anyway, i am on [15:13] what's new? [15:13] I don't have good experience in IRC clients. So I've been using webchat.freenode.net [15:13] i will give a regex talk tonight at the silicon valley perl meetup [15:14] it seems irc has such a convoluted spec and api [15:14] I'm on webchat today, too [15:14] and few people care if IRC doesn't work [15:14] definitely not designed by apple :-) [15:15] I've been reading "The Innovators" by Walter Isaacson [15:16] I started reading a while back. and only a few hours a week. [15:16] you can spot many technical inaccuracy. [15:16] but overall it's good [15:17] nice [15:17] shall we start? +17 min [15:17] sure [15:17] http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/KampalaReleaseMeeting2016x06x02 [15:17] 1. Feature Requests for Kampala Release 2. Extensions 3. Review Urgent and Not So Urgent Bugs 4. Miscellaneous [15:17] usual agenda [15:18] ---++ 1. Feature Requests for Kampala Release [15:18] http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/WebChanges [15:18] it looks like nothing new since last meeting (except for regex talk) [15:19] ---++ 2. Extensions [15:19] http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/WebChanges [15:19] we talked abou LoadAppPlugin and PloticusPlugin last time [15:20] only one additional plugin update: [15:20] I've made a small change to LdapNgPlugin [15:20] LdapNgPlugin - by HideyoImazu-san [15:20] it's about how to call a helper function [15:21] makes sense [15:21] now the base parameter is handed to the helper [15:21] any another extensions we should cover? [15:22] ---++ 3. Review Urgent and Not So Urgent Bugs [15:22] http://develop.twiki.org/~twiki/cgi-bin/view/Bugs/WebChanges [15:23] just ploticus and ldapng we already covered [15:23] anything else on bugs? [15:24] not from me [15:24] Not from me, I'm pretty much on tour without access to my private development environment [15:24] travel on business harald? [15:24] Yep [15:24] also nothing from me [15:24] ---++ 4. Miscellaneous [15:25] anything? [15:25] I'm building a web form having LDAP query [15:26] the LDAP query is done on a popup [15:26] i did that a few weeks ago for a client [15:26] very easy in perl [15:26] the popup uses %LDAP{...}% [15:27] for that, I needed the LdapNgPlugin helper function to get the base parameter [15:27] ah [15:28] a majo client i work for is migrating almost everything from microsoft to google [15:28] I've realized that you can implement a decent LDAP query popup for a web form with a relatively simple TWiki topic [15:29] speaking of Google Sheets, I found its SORT() function very handy [15:29] to do the same thing on Excel, you need to do a complex thing [15:30] i am slowly familiarizing myself with google apps [15:30] with SORT(), you can specify what region of which sheet to sort and sort keys. [15:30] now the client's big boss wants to move internal apps into a google app engine [15:31] so, sort() does not sort the whole table? [15:31] i've been booking my personal expenses on google sheets for a few years now [15:31] SORT() shows the result of sorting of a specified range of a specified sheet [15:31] ah [15:32] i started to appreciate the pivot feature in excel and g sheets [15:32] I organized a futsal tournament the other day, and I made a sheet to enter game results [15:32] on a different sheet, I showed the ranking of the teams using SORT() [15:32] using form input that populates a g sheet? quite nifty [15:33] ah, for this you probably also can use a pivot [15:33] winning point is the primary sort key and the goal difference is the secondary sort key [15:33] on Excel, you probably use pivot [15:34] but using SORT() is way simpler [15:34] ah [15:34] no need to worry about tie [15:34] although with pivot is simply a matter of dragging fields to x axis and y axis [15:35] I shared the sheet with the tournament participants. they saw the tournament result in real time on their smart phone [15:35] without paying anything [15:35] that is useful [15:35] shall we close the meeting early? [15:36] before closing, I have on question to you both German speakers [15:36] Fine with me, I need to get up early this morning [15:36] do you know Wizelsucht? [15:36] Witzelshucht [15:37] i do not know this word but i can guess what it means [15:37] Witzelsucht is the right spelling [15:37] witzelsucht [15:37] I suppose the meaning is obvious to German speakers [15:38] I just saw that the term is unchanged in English wikipedia [15:38] yep [15:38] I've found the term interesting [15:38] "witz" is a joke, "sucht" is addiction [15:38] But the exact meaning wasn't known to me before [15:38] ah ok [15:39] that's all from me [15:39] ok, let's close the meeting [15:39] i'll post the minutes and logs as usual [15:40] until next time! [15:40] ttyl HideyoImazu-san & HaraldJoerg! [15:40] ttyl [15:40] TTYL [15:40] == HaraldJoerg [54778a57@gateway/web/freenode/ip.84.119.138.87] has quit [Quit: Page closed]
