Seems like there's lots of install issues with TWiki - especially with user authentication. I think the
/bin/testenv script goes a long way to help, but seems to me people get stuck with the user permissions and other configuration. I hate to think this poses a stumbling block causing numerous would-be TWiki users to abandon it!
So I'm proposing that TWiki gets distributed as one self-contained package with scripts that automatically set the permission and ownership flags. Yeah, it'd only really work for those with
root access and I guess I'd withdraw this idea if I'm one of the few that do.
Similarly you could distribute a nice, neat, trimmed down, tweaked version of Apache with it to give optimal performance and minimal configuration problems.

It's fair enough to point to useful packages such as Indigo Perl (which bundles Apache and Perl, see separate pages on TWiki on Windows), but including a web server and Perl package with TWiki would hugely increase the download size, and of course there's the issue of which web server and which OS?
Providing a better
TWikiUnixInstaller is the real solution IMO.

Currently there are some self-contained packages that can be used to install TWiki without much hassle.
