Use Tagging Instead of InterestedParties Form Field
I would like to make it easier to find related content and at the same time remove some of the clutter on TWiki.org. For this I suggest that we:
- discontinue the InterestedParties form field, and that
- all active TWikiCommunity members start tagging content
I already found it very useful to browse to related content in two or three clicks (click on a tag, click on related topic; or click on "my tags", click on tag, click on related topic). It is also much faster than a "Favorites" search to get all my InterestedParties topics.
Suggested tasks:
- Remove the InterestedParties form field from the form (field value will stay until next save cycle)
- Use tagging instead of InterestedParties to find "my topics of interest"
- Do a global search & replace to change all personal leftbar's "Favorites" link with a "My tags" link (as I have done manually on PeterThoenyLeftBar topic)

Ähm, how do I remove my tags if I'm not interested in something anymore?

That is a missing feature (listed as suggested enhancement; easy to implement)

Remove tags is implemented for a while now.
I have not seen any objections to removing the
InterestedParties field from the form, and to replacing the "Favorites" link with a "My tags" link in the personal leftbar. Last chance!

Just to clarify, users can remove their votes for a tag, but can't "negatively" vote for a tag (ie, can't remove the tag others put in place)

Correct.
Part of my daily cleanup work on TWiki.org is to monitor the tagging activities to remove obvious errors, such as tagging TWiki.WebIndex with
skin, TWiki.WelcomeGuest with
access_control, Sandbox.SandBox16 with
classification (all real examples)

We should be able to negatively tag but perhaps not be able to remove a tag that wasn't added by us
