For now I added a social media icon bar in the top bar on twiki.org. Is this a good location?

Idea for enhancement: Use a redirect to get metrics on usage.

Instead of adding shareme tag to topmenu which results in sharing only the topmenu and not the topic - you might consider editing twiki.pattern.tmpl in templates dir and adding it to somewhere around the patternMainContents div. The icons appear at the foot of every topiuc but AT LEAST your visitors are sharing the content of topic and not the content of the top menu

Oh, that looks like a bug. The social media icons in the top bar should reference the base topic not the top bar menu topic.
