Question

Hello People,

I want to have a trace of every step on how to create and add additional webs to my company's intranet site, including changes needed to be made on both the site itself and also in the directories where these files are stored. I have been trying to do this but I don't really know what I'm doing. For example, I think that a new template has to be created for each web that I want to create but I'm not sure. Looking at the list of templates I don't know which template it is that I would have to copy the information from. I did not create any new templates or modify existing ones for the webs which I modified(main, test, know, test)into company webs(aka Systems, Sales, etc.) I only made copies of the webs and renamed them to the various sectors in my company, as I stated above. I basically used what was already existing and modified the names and content to fit the needs of my company. But I need to now create additional webs and I am completely lost. Can someone who's had success with this please help me?

Answer

"To create a new web" in TWiki.TWikiInstallationGuide should have the answer. You only need to create a templates directory in case you need web specific templates (i.e. for a category table). To create a new web simply create the new directory under the data directory and copy all Web* topics from another web over to the new one. Watch out for file permissions.

Actually, I can't find "To create a new web" in the TWikiInstallationGuide. I did a "find" on the page for that phrase and it came up empty.

That refers to a very old TWiki version. See ManagingWebs.
