Question

The instructions for doing a beta update to get to 4.0.0 are incomplete.

I was disappointed in the instructions at the bottom of the upgrade section in the Release Notes regarding how to upgrade a beta Dakar installation to a full blown 4.0.0 installation. I was going from a production installation of TWikiRelease2005x12x17x7873beta to the new 4.0.0. It became clear early on that there was much more to do than just copy over my local data and pub directories and whatever files I had added. User and group lists had to be merged in by hand to avoid reverting to pre-4.0 code. There were other merges as well, like the LocalSite.cfg file.

Admittedly, I'm not a veteran user of this software, so I may havew jumped to the wrong conclusions. If there's a better way to do these updates maybe someone can point me to it. But all's well that ends well. 4.0 is up and looks great. Especially the WYSIWYG. Thanks.

Sorry about that, Dick. If you follow the instructions at the bottom of UpgradeDoubleDotRelease you should be all right.
