Question

I would like to create nested topics in such a manner that I can have different levels of security for different portions of a page.

For example my page might look like this.

We are running TWiki-4.0.5

Well, you could use an include with different security for one or both sections. I suspect you'd want the restricted topic to be the 'main' topic; if you went the other way, anyone could edit the user topic and remove the include of the admin topic.

One way to avoid having to set explicit permission in different topics would be to to put the topics in separate webs, where you could set the web permission accordingly. It would depend on wheter it was a bigger pain to manually set permissions on every topic, or to include the references into the proper web. Actually, that scheme would work out better with the user topic as primary, otherwise users would have to remember to type Restricted.TopicName. You might be able to play some tricks with RedirectPlugin

You may want something like this in the public page, to save clicking through and then hitting edit:

[[%SCRIPTURL{edit}/%WEB%/%TOPIC%][Edit public content]]

If the basic scheme can be made to work, you might consider TopicCreatePlugin to help out with the sub-pages.
