Question

I hang out in TWikiIRC. Someone asked me what version of TWiki he was running. I grepped the alpha source code and can find no automated way to get a report from a TWiki of what version it's running. He didn't do the install, someone else did for him. Aside from just "knowing" what differences to look for, how can I tell what release someone is running if they don't know?

  • TWiki version: unknown, that's the problem.
  • Perl version: ?
  • Web server & version: Apache 1.3.?
  • Server OS: Linux ?
  • Web browser & version: Mozilla 1.3a snapshot
  • Client OS: Debian Linux

Answer

Aha, sorry. There is a WIKIVERSION variable set in TWiki.pm - not TWIKI... but WIKI... - TWiki-6.1.1-branch, Sun, 02 Jul 2023, build 31079

The variable is also displayed at the bottom of TWiki.WebHome and also in TWiki.TWikiVariables
