SID-00304: SpreadSheetPlugin cannot be enabled

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 4.2.0 Perl version: 5.8.8.820
Category: CategoryPlugins Server OS: WinXP Last update: 17 years ago

  • Downloaded the SpreadSheetPlugin from twiki.org, and copied its files into the installation directory.
  • used configure to enable the plugin
  • but %PLUGINDESCRIPTIONS% reports that SpreadSheetPlugin is disabled.
  • checked the /twiki/lib/LocalSite.cfg file and found the line: $TWiki::cfg{Plugins}{SpreadSheetPlugin}{Enabled} = 1;

the result is that no calc functions or other aspects of the plugin work.

What am I doing wrong?

Discussion and Answer

  • Check data/warn<date>.txt file.
  • Check your TWiki.InstalledPlugins (containing the %FAILEDPLUGINS% variable) for any errors.
  • Check the permissions and ownership of the plugin lib files and directory, must be readable by the webserver user.
  • Check if Perl compiles the files OK: perl -c lib/TWiki/Plugins/SpreadSheetPlugin.pm and perl -c lib/TWiki/Plugins/SpreadSheetPlugin/Calc.pm

Thank you for the quick response:

  • data/warn200905.txt reports many lines like: | 07 May 2009 - 18:11 | SpreadSheetPlugin has been disabled
  • InstalledPlugins, under the heading "Plugin Diagnostics" reports that "SpreadSheetPlugin has been disabled"
  • the other plugins report no errors
  • I believe that the permissions and ownership of the directory is fine, other plugins which I have installed in the same way (for example, TagMe) seem to be working fine
  • Perl reports "syntax OK" for both scripts

Thoughts?

This is strange. Is the data/TWiki/SpreadSheetPlugin.txt file readable by the webserver user?

I am able to visit and edit the SpreadSheetPlugin topic. If that's what you mean.

We have figured out the problem. The plugin was disabled during an aborted installation of the NatSkin. A support question related to that skin pointed us in the right direction.

I am glad you figured out the issue. Closing this question now...
