Good day, couldn't find anything in Internet about my problem.
Few days ago we edited
TopMenuSkinTopBar.txt, just added one line with:
* <form name="structuredSearch" action="/cgi-bin/view/IT/SearchForm"><input type="submit" size="5" class="twikiButton" name="submit" value="Go to Structured Search" />&nbs
p; ::
</form>
before Jump field. now when we trying to SAVE any edited document twiki show:
During save of IT.********* an error was found by the version control system. Please notify your TWiki administrator.
Use of uninitialized value in numeric lt (<)
Go back in your browser and save your changes locally.
After pressing BACK button and SAVE again everything OK, twiki saved page without any errors. We already checked permission and ownership everything ok. What else it could be?
Tried to replace file with original, problem same...
Regards

Discussion and Answer
You could help us by looking in your web server's error log: It
should contain the same error message, but together with a module and a line number where it occured.
I doubt that the error directly comes from your editing of
TopMenuSkinTopBar.txt, I just made the same change in my TWiki without any problems.
Another question: Do you have the configuration value
{WarningsAreErrors} set to a true value? While "Use of uninitialized value in numeric lt (<) " is nasty and should be fixed, it is only a warning and should not cause the
save action to fail.

As Harald suggested I recommend looking at the apache error_log. It should give you some more details.
Don't edit TWiki topics on file level (
data/Web/SomeTopic.txt) because the history will be out of sync (
.../SomeTopic.txt,v). Using your browser, do a raw edit on system topics.
If you restore topics, make sure to restore the
.txt and the
.txt,v. Fix the file ownership and permissions to match other files.
