INTERNET EVENTS
- Netscape came out with a new browser based on Mosaic.
- Windows 95 was able to handle the Internet better than any other Windows Version.
- Microsoft invented another browser, again based on Mosaic called Internet Explorer and gave this away for free.
- The World Wide Web had enough web sites created to make browsing a pleasant experience for the average consumer.
- The internet got too big for NSF to fund. First Commercial Internet Service Providers (ISP's)- Sprint, Alternet and Performance Systems Internations (PSI) took over, charging the consumer about $3 per hour.
- There were now about 10,000,000 hosts/nodes that made up the Internet.
- There were about 100,000 Web Sites to browse.
CURRENT EVENTS
- The Oklahoma City Bombing.
- OJ Simpsons was found innocent on October 4th.
- Large earthquake in Japan strikes.
- The First Tibetan Freedom Concert.
- The Ebola virus kills 244 Africans in Kikwit, Zaire in Central Africa.
- Dr. Bernard A. Harris, Jr. makes history as the first black American astronaut to walk in space
- Captain Scott O'Grady of the Air Force was shotdown on June 2,1995 while flying a routine sortie over war-torn Bosnia. He was rescued 5 1/2 days later on June 8,1995.
