The HARP team aims to send its rocket to the… Jun 11th https://www.mercurynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/SJM-L-ROCKET-0610-07.jpg?w=1024&h=683 himazu [3:10 PM] cool peterthoeny [3:11 PM] mercury news is the main newspaper in the silicon valley himazu [3:11 PM] your son is studying “rocket science”? peterthoeny [3:11 PM] yup, aka aerospace engineering himazu [3:12 PM] sounds fascinating. peterthoeny [3:12 PM] it’s quite a challenging project, with a chance of failure knock on wood we just reserved an rv for the weekend in the desert in september himazu [3:13 PM] bigger rocket than before? peterthoeny [3:13 PM] time check: +13 min harald is online on irc, but not responding himazu [3:14 PM] sleeping? peterthoeny [3:14 PM] yes, biggest rocket he is building so far two stage, o-motor to o-motor himazu [3:15 PM] what’s o-motor? peterthoeny [3:15 PM] his biggest before was a single stage m-motor size of motor starts with a-motor himazu [3:16 PM] ok what’s the biggest? z-motor? peterthoeny [3:16 PM] from one letter to the next is double total impulse, e.g twice as powerful biggest for non-commercial is p himazu [3:17 PM] z-motor is theoretically possible but not in reality? peterthoeny [3:17 PM] at that size, the motor is home built yes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_rocket_motor_classification haj [3:18 PM] Sorry, I was distracted... I'm here :slightly_smiling_face: peterthoeny [3:19 PM] good evening harald! falcon heavy is an af-motor himazu [3:19 PM] good to hear from you, Harald! peterthoeny [3:20 PM] ok, shall we start? himazu [3:20 PM] sure peterthoeny [3:20 PM] http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/KampalaReleaseMeeting2018x07x05 agenda: 1. Feature Requests for Kampala Release 2. Extensions 3. Review Urgent and Not So Urgent Bugs 4. TWiki Release Discussion 5. Miscellaneous ---++ 1. Feature Requests for Kampala Release http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/WebChanges very quiet on features anything you’d like to discuss? himazu [3:21 PM] nothing from me haj [3:22 PM] I guess the most important thing is to get a release out which works with current versions of Perl peterthoeny [3:22 PM] yes, let’s discuss that in point 4 ---++ 2. Extensions http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/WebChanges two updates: http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/LinkOptionsPlugin by @himazu himazu [3:24 PM] it’s just a small fix peterthoeny [3:24 PM] the other one is DatabasePlugin, updated by guest, e.g. likely not a real change, but i’ll check, and check-in if needed other than that nothing new anything else? haj [3:25 PM] I don't have anything peterthoeny [3:25 PM] ---++ 3. Review Urgent and Not So Urgent Bugs http://develop.twiki.org/do/view/Bugs/WebChanges comment on existing bug: http://develop.twiki.org/do/view/Bugs/Item7797 showing again that we have to release asap anything else on bugs? haj [3:27 PM] Nope peterthoeny [3:27 PM] 4. TWiki Release Discussion while in switzerland i had a long phor conversation with pete jones of cern they have a big sharepoint deployment and are now looking to replace it with an open source / free for edu product twiki is already used extensively, so that is one option to move to twiki the other option is to move to confluence he is asked when the new twiki release is coming up many deployments are now with a perl version where the current production release no longer works so there are good reasons to release as soon as possible the codebase is stable, so we are good to go the only holdback is the differentiating feature of app packager which is on my plate, but frankly a neglected by me so, question is if we should wait for this longer, or release without it ? himazu [3:33 PM] does he need a release or a working code in SVN repository is fine by him? haj [3:33 PM] Is the app packager bound to the TWiki version? I guess it could be released indepently peterthoeny [3:33 PM] likely a svn checkout is fine too for him, however it is the perception of the community (e.g. researchers / users) is is looking at (edited) it can be released independently himazu [3:35 PM] given the last release happened long time ago, it’s better to make a new release with whatever we  can peterthoeny [3:35 PM] question of release number, if app packer is done we could call it a 7.0.0 without it, it is either a 6.0.3 patch, or a 6.1.0 minor i agree harald, what is your opinion? haj [3:37 PM] I don't mind what the version number is... 6.1.0 would be fine to indicate that it works with current Perl peterthoeny [3:37 PM] patch list: http://develop.twiki.org/do/viewauth/Bugs/ReleaseNotes?type=patch himazu [3:37 PM] 6.1.0 sounds good to me. assuming it works with the latest stable release of perl peterthoeny [3:37 PM] minor list: http://develop.twiki.org/do/viewauth/Bugs/ReleaseNotes?type=minor haj [3:37 PM] Perl 5.28 is out, but I haven't tried it yet peterthoeny [3:38 PM] yes, looking at minor list it warrants a 6.1.0 so, it looks like we agree to release as soon as feasible, and use 6.1.0? haj [3:39 PM] I agree himazu [3:39 PM] yep haj [3:39 PM] I'll try to find time to run the test suite with Perl 5.28 peterthoeny [3:39 PM] @haj do you know if perl 5.28 has deprecated features that might cause problems? haj [3:40 PM] Not that I know of I'll check perldelta peterthoeny [3:40 PM] ok, decision is done: release as soon as we can using version 6.1.0 with new perl version, it takes some time until it appears in distributions at least for redhat/centos haj [3:41 PM] Sure, , but 5.26 already has surfaced peterthoeny [3:42 PM] so we likely don’t need to worry about 5.28 at this time haj [3:43 PM] Agreed, but we reduce the pressure if we get it to run under 5.28 peterthoeny [3:43 PM] true ok, let’s look at a weekend we can build the release haj [3:45 PM] I'm just now installing Perl 5.28 and can run tests over the weekend peterthoeny [3:45 PM] @himazu shall we divide the load the same like last time? himazu [3:46 PM] ok peterthoeny [3:46 PM] thank you @haj for testing with latest perl as for schedule, i am relatively flexible for the next few weekends what weekend would you prefer @himazu-san? himazu [3:47 PM] let’s see… July 14, 15 is fine tomorrow July 7, I have something peterthoeny [3:48 PM] perfect, that works for me i’ll block the july 14-15 weekend to-do for me before release, look at security items, i’ll do that this weekend ok, it looks like we have a plan anything else on release? haj [3:52 PM] Not from me peterthoeny [3:52 PM] ---++ 5. Miscellaneous anything? nothing on my side haj [3:53 PM] Nothing from me either himazu [3:53 PM] Not from me peterthoeny [3:53 PM] ok, let’s close the meeting i’ll post the logs and minutes as usual himazu [3:54 PM] TTYL haj [3:54 PM] TTYL! peterthoeny [3:54 PM] thank you @haj & @himazu-san, ttyl!
