Feature Proposal: Background Image for TWiki web of Dakar Release
Description
The TWiki Release 4.0 (aka
DakarRelease) version of the
PatternSkin has now a nice striped background image of rolls of paper rolled out on a table. For the TWiki web needs something unique and something that represents the Dakar team / spirit. We are going through some iterations.
Iteration 1 -- Dotted Image
Dotted image:
Simple dotted image, not very appealing.
Iteration 2 -- Beatles with Twiki Robot
Beatles and Twiki Robot:
Very creative idea by
CrawfordCurrie
Iteration 3 -- Beatles with Twiki Robot on Dakar Background
Beatles and Twiki Robot with background:
PeterThoeny added the striped Dakar background image. Looks very nice, but unfortunately we can't use it due to copyright issues.
Iteration 4 -- Old fashioned Contraption
Contraption:
CrawfordCurrie's attempt to solve the copyright issue.
Iteration 5 -- Children with Twiki Robot on Dakar Background
PeterThoeny's 2 children and Twiki robot:
Peter's 2 children and Twiki robot (slightly lighter color):
Peter's 2 children and Twiki robot, slighly larger robot:
Branding message: Kids and robot exploring a planet of paper; playful; quest to reach something new.
Background on image: I took some photos of my 9 and 10 year old kids and re-created the robot image on the computer with a spray can tool (ugly big reproduction, but OK when scaled down,
see artwork). Record label companies can copyright images and songs, but they cannot copyright an idea. That means, this image has no copyright strings attached.
There are two versions, one is slighly lighter in color. Which one is better? I favor the darker one.

Discussion
Peter, I loved that!

Looks like they're in an OK shape even though dad's been spending quite some time messing with this FOSS-thing of his
I'm in for the darker edition too.

I redid the bg image with a slighly larger Twiki robot, for better proportions.
