What works well now, that needs to be preserved going forward?
- There is a fair amount of topics on release management, but no central reference. I've create the CategoryReleaseManagement to provide a central list of the material.
What doesn't work now, and needs to be fixed or boarded up so it doesn't confuse us or slow us down?
The following unit test cases are broken as of release 5.1.0: (5 failures)
RegisterTests::test_4061
RenderFormTests::test_render_formfield_with_form
ResponseTests::test_headers
SemiAutomaticTestCaseTests::test_TestCaseAutoInternalTags
SemiAutomaticTestCaseTests::test_TestCaseAutoSearch
What don't we do now that we should start to make our process better?
The unit test aren't being run against the development trunk (revision 22420). I'm showing 58 failures running
$ perl ../bin/TestRunner.pl TWikiSuite.pm

Discussion
There are "broken windows" (old designs, outdated documentation, and some broken test case code) laying un-repaired in release management process mostly due to neglect since the 2008 fork. Since accepting the release manager role, I've done some fixing and patching, but I have not attempted to redevelop the release process using the framework of the
TWikiGovernance task team model until now. This topic becomes the focal point for my efforts. Please join me if interested.

Thank you George for taking the initiative! I renamed the topic to end in *TaskTeam. There is an outdated task team app. I am refactoring existing topics and reorganize the task team pages to reflect the
TWikiGovernance.

After serving as the release management team lead for the 5.0.2, 5.1.0, 5.1.1 and 5.1.2 releases, I've stepped down from this position. It's been a privilage to work with Peter Thoeny and the other developers here at TWiki. I wish you all the best.
