TWikiAdvocacy, it is the starting point for spreading the word.

It would be well worth putting together a short press release announcing the recent TWiki release, and sending this to a few open source websites, e.g.
http://lwn.net/
(there's another Wiki announcement on
http://lwn.net/2001/0927/devel.php3
at the moment. Other sites worth posting to include
http://freshmeat.net/
(very popular), Newsforge, and linux.com. All in the cause of getting the word out

This would be Peter replying, normally, but I'm so all over here right now - doing docs stuff! - that I'll answer. A press announcement went out, and I believe most or all of the sites mentioned were covered...at least, freshmeat and the other OSS/geek regulars.
I don't know what the TWiki publicity list is like, but I'm interested in compiling a simple (online?) database for TWiki publicity. I've done a lot of hardcore publicity efforts on a very frontline level - in the indie music business, but media's media - and would like to help start the same for TWiki. Every publicist/agency has a list, and personal contacts. Where most - all that I've dealt with - fall short is in DEPTH. Especially with the Net - Web sites, email lists, newsgroups, etc - there are many, many potential outlets, and they're ALL important (it's great to get a mention in a big title, but it's also amazing how little response a seemingly high profile bit can get). Assembling a "street-aware" list is the goal...no one too small if they're on point.
For the record: Publicity doesn't equal hype - promoting something worthwhile helps overcome all the BS. It's...patriotic?!
Any leads?

I keep track of announcements in
Main.TWikiAnnouncements. TWiki 01 Sep 2001 specific announcements are at
Main.TWikiAnnounce20010901 and
Main.TWikiPublicity20010901. The latter one can be used as material for other publicity.
Yes, please help in spreading the word. If you know of web sites and periodicals use the existing material for announcing TWiki. Please list what you did in
TWikiPublicity20010901, this is to avoid duplicate efforts.
There is room for improving the publicity process.

The german computer magazine
iX
10/2002 has an article about wikis,
describes
TWikiSuccessStoryOfMotorola
and includes it in a selection of 8 wiki engines.
It links to an interesting white paper from the "Free University Berlin"
comparing wikis and web CMS:
http://www.inf.fu-berlin.de/~cyganiak/cm/wiki_und_wcms.pdf
(german as well)
- Google Translation to english, broken into 3 parts to workaround a buffer limitation. If somebody can find a real translation it would be appreciated. I don't know how long I can host these. -- MattWilkie - 05 Jan 2003

The website
http://cmsinfo.org/
looks to be a good place to drop release announcements and other major twiki events. I took the liberty of
suggesting they list TWiki
as one of the available programs crossposted a note about the last beta release.
cmsInfo is an internet community of users and developers of Content Management Systems. Dedicated to provide news and information of the Open Source weblog niche. The website runs a slashdot style newslog where anybody can submit news stories and add comments.
