A US Government procurement regulation called
Section 508
requires that Federal agencies' electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities. For simplicity in verifying compliance with Section 508, or at least documenting compliance shortcomings, the
Information Technology Advisory Council
has developed a
"Voluntary Product Accessibility Template"
or VPAT. You fill in the blanks to demonstrate or disclaim compliance with various aspects of Section 508 and related policies.
Whilst recently preparing a bid for a government agency, I prepared a VPAT for the current version of TWiki. Unsurprisingly, TWiki is compliant with virtually all accessibility guidelines. Feel free to download and edit
this MS-Word copy of the VPAT, and please notify me of any changes.
