Backgrounds Generation Strategy
The backgrounds generation follow Table 2 of:
http://cdsweb.cern.ch/record/1191916/files/ATL-PHYS-PUB-2009-084.pdf
in terms of MC event generators. For the detector simulations PGS4 is used instead ALTFAST.
The setups for the MC generators, events filtering, detector simulations, etc ... used by the ATLAS collaboration can be found in:
http://alxr.usatlas.bnl.gov/lxr/source/atlas/
To be as close as possible to the ATLAS collaboration simulations via ATHENA the following paper:
http://iopscience.iop.org/1742-6596/219/3/032001
The interfaces used by ATHENA to the MC generators can be found in:
http://alxr.usatlas.bnl.gov/lxr/source/atlas/Generators
. For each generator there is a suffix
"_i" and usually
in the
src folder there is a C++ code with it. For instance, the one related with
HERWIG is called
Herwig.cxx
and it's located in the
Herwig_i/src folder. Thus, all the main files used match with the interfaces used by
ATHENA.
We follow the specific inputs used by the collaboration as labelled by
MC10 located in:
http://alxr.usatlas.bnl.gov/lxr/source/atlas/Generators/MC10JobOptions
t tbar
The setup for the MC generators is tagged as MC10*** for the ATLAS collaboration.
We use the
MCatNLO code for computing the matrix elements for the ttbar production at NLO.
The hadronization follows
JIMMY . Tau decays are treated via
TAUOLA and photon decays via
PHOTOS.
As mentioned above we use
PGS4 for simulating the ATLAS detector.

TWiki has system wide preferences settings defined in TWikiPreferences. You can customize preferences settings to your needs: To overload a system setting, (1) do a "raw view" on TWikiPreferences, (2) copy a Set VARIABLE = value bullet, (3) do a "raw edit" of your user profile page, (4) add the bullet to the bullet list above, and (5) customize the value as needed. Make sure the settings render as real bullets (in "raw edit", a bullet requires 3 or 6 spaces before the asterisk).
