The TWiki Plugin API allows the TWiki to gather information from other sources such as databases. For example the PeerPlugin uses a database to store topic ranking information. The LocalCityTimePlugin extracts time information from another web site.
TWiki topic metadata can be used for collecting information. The InlineSearch topic discusses how metadata can be gathered for bug tracking. A TWiki Plugin could process this information to create different views of the data.
For simple data presentation tasks, there is a SpreadSheetPlugin.
