Development discussion for AntiWikiSpamPlugin

Created prior to BlackListPlugin's subsumption of this functionality (as I was part of the original meetings at Wikimania2005), and resurected due to that plugins undesired other functinoality. Personally I prefer each plugin to do one thing well, rather than try to do many things (the functionality that BlackList is named for may needed by some sites but aparently not all).

I see your point, yes, some might want just the spam filtering on save. I see that the spam fight works best if done on multiple fronts: Topic spam filtering, attachment spam filtering, scrip eval filtering, excessive registration check, IP address blacklist & whitelist, preventing registrations by scripts etc. Personally I find it beneficial for the community if you work with the BlackListPlugin author to improve that Plugin as well.

Some suggestions on the Plugin topic:

• Document format of the LOCALANTISPAMREGEXLISTTOPIC
• A lower case "set" in set ALLOWTOPICCHANGE is a bit cryptic. Possibly write as #Set ALLOWTOPICCHANGE, and put a not to remove the hash to write protect the topic
• The TWikiAdminGroup misses the %MAINWEB% prefix
• How about measuring and documenting the PluginBenchmarks numbers?

The Plugin topic has now "More spam avoidance techniques are planned." I's rather see joint efforts for the BlackListPlugin in order to optimize our resoures.

I do not want the Blacklist functionality. I am not interested in adding more features to that plugin.

Surely you should be joining me to work on AntiWikiSpamPlugin.

I changed the ModificationPolicy of this extension from ContactAuthorFirst to PleaseFeelFreeToModify due to inactivity. Anyone please feel free to work on this extension.
