Question

I don't use AmericaOnLine, but several of my users do. Some report that AOL crashes (terminates without error) whenever they try to save a page. I don't get how this could happen, as TWiki is exclusively a server-side application and it doesn't do anything weird on the client side. Any suggestions for where to start looking for the problem?

Obviously I don't have much detail here. Sorry for the vagueness, but I've never seen it happen myself.

Thanks for any hints or pointers.

  • TWiki version: 20011201
  • Web server: Apache 1.3.26?
  • Server OS: Linux 2.4.x
  • Web browser: America Online
  • Client OS: Windows 98, mostly

Answer

Not much to be done about this other than to check the version of AOL they are using (i.e. the AOL software) and suggest an upgrade if it's not the most recent perhaps. Could be due to AOL's use of proxies perhaps, but rather odd.

They might also be able to use another browser, e.g. InternetExplorer or MozillaBrowser (the latter may be best as the former is used by AOL currently).
