Question
I'm trying to display a gif file on a twiki page.
I've attached the gif the the page. The gif is listed in the list of attachments, but the picture is not displayed, only the alternate text.
Clicking on the link to the image in the attachments table opents the gif in a separate window.
This is an example of a gif attachement that does not work:
* T-logo-80x15.gif: <br />
<img src="%ATTACHURLPATH%/T-logo-80x15.gif" alt="T-logo-80x15.gif" width='80' height='15' />
I verified that the attached files are indeed in the ddirectory of the page under pub
I've no idea what is the problem and where to start to look for it.
Thanks,
Dan

- T-logo-80x15.gif:
Hm, works as expected here on twiki.org. What exactly doesn't work at your system?

I have the same (or similiar) problem here, using TWiki 4.0.5 in a virtual machine.
- Some GIFs are not displayed, but only for some users (strange, because all have the same browser with identical settings in a company network, JPEGs are displayed for all without problems
- when the file address is entered as URL, the GIF is displayed correctly in a single window (so there seems to be no issue with permissions)
- The properties say: "type unknown"
- The same GIF on an external server, linked into the page, is displayed correctly
It seems to be something between Apache and the browser. An "AddType" for GIF in TWiki_httpd.conf did not solve the issue.
The display quality with
ImagePlugin is not as good. So far no solution.

After spending several hours trying to install the
ImagePlugin, I gave in. Not manually, nor the installer work.
ImageMagic and the
PerlMagic are both installed and work fine (pass the make test)
Anyway, as
FranzJosefSilli said, it should work without imagemagic, right out of the box. Images I attach should be displayed.
They don't and I'm still waiting for some idea.

Update on my "GIF-Problem":
The display issue in the browser was tracked down to gifs with a transparent background. Obviously a problem in our specific Metaframe-Environment. When the gifs were changed to a white background, they displayed fine on all computers.
