Question

. I was able to attach .gif attachments earlier but no more. At least, the newer .gif's don't show up:

I click on "action" in the existing attachment table. Browse to the updated gif file with the same name. Hit "Upload file" button. Corresponding time for the attachment changes. But if I click on the name of the file, the old version keeps showing up - and no additional version is added to the table that appears after clicking "action".

I have checked the permissions on all files and directories. I get no error message in the error-log. I can see the entry in access log. The topic file and corresponding ,v and ,lock files show the latest date!

Answer

This may be a caching problem - after attaching the file, try hitting Ctrl/Refresh, Shift/Refresh and so on. Also, try another browser to see if this happens in the same way, or try bypassing any proxy caches. This was reported earlier and may be ViewAfterSaveCachesOldPage (for the page) and a similar issue, UpdateAttachmentDoesntUpdate, for the .gif attachment.

Check the server error log as per the SupportGuidelines, to see if there are any errors.
