Question
Hi, we installed TWiki, but have a problem with the authorisation of users. Whenever we set ALLOWTOPICCHANGE to my WikiName or a WikiGroup I am apart of, I can't edit the page and says I am not authorised to edit the page. However, if we set the tag to allow TWikiGuest to edit the page, then I can edit the page. This is odd because when editting the page, the signature says my WikiName.
Could this problem be because of the authorisation? When first installing TWiki, we had huge authorisation problems in that nobody could ever login and would always be TWikiGuest. Whenever we view a page, WIKINAME tag would say "TWikiGuest". Whenever we tried to edit it, the signature would then say "-- Main.TWikiGuest - (date)". Now though, we have changed some of the configuration so that when we edit pages, it forces a login. In the edit screen after the login page, the signature says our Wiki Name. However, even if we login as an admin, we are still unable to edit pages that have ALLOWTOPICCHANGE set to admins only. However, after we go to another page, the WIKINAME tag still says TWikiGuest.
Also, if I set a page with ALLOWTOPICCHANGE set to TWikiGuest, I can edit it, even when loging in as someone else. What could be the problem?
Thanks for the help.

Answer
Probably the place to start is what you did to try and turn on authentication -- what instructions did you follow and what precisely did you change in order to enable a login challenge at edit-time? Attaching config files would help.

I didn't do the editting myself, but I'll try and find out the exact steps. I just uploaded the testenv file, is there anything that could help you with perhaps?

the
output of
testenv would be useful. a copy of the script isn't. also, attaching your
bin/setlib.cfg would be helpful.

And most of all, follow the installation instructions at
TWikiInstallationGuide and read additional docs at
TWikiUserAuthentication. To get up to speed quickly with your TWiki installation consider a

I've attached the bin/setlib.cfg file, but how do I even get the output of the testenv? And we've gone through the Installation Guide and User Authentication, but some of the instructions were pretty general and we couldn't get it to work.

you run
http://your.twiki.server/bin/testenv.cgi
or whatever corresponds to your entries in TWiki.cfg from the URL line in your webserver. You can try it for yourself here in the twiki website by typing:
http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/testenv
