Question
I'm testing a new installation of the latest TWiki release (4.1.2) with Apache 2.2.6 on Linux. I have TWiki installed in a test directory (
/var/www/newtwiki), and the configuration seems okay. Anytime I try to edit the site, I get the following error with every view:
[Tue Oct 23 10:32:02 2007] [error] [client IP_address] client denied by server configuration: /var/www/Main, referer: https://[domain.name]/newtwiki/bin/edit/Main/WebHome?twiki_redirect_cache=405a1a6dd041a7dfbe009531004a87ef
The error does not seem to be fatal: the server starts and the site functions. I've attached my
twiki.conf for the server.

Answer
If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.
To clarify: the error reported above is appearing in the Apache error log, not TWiki's logs.
In addition: If I delete both
lib/LocalSite.cfg and
bin/LocalLib.cfg,
configure works. But if I use the default
LocalLib.cfg.txt to create a new
LocalLib.cfg and change only the
lib path to my actual path, I get this error on
configure:
Software error:
Use of uninitialized value in join or string at
/var/www/newtwiki/lib/TWiki/Configure/UI.pm line 120.

I'm getting these same errors in Mac OS X Leopard
TWikiOnMacOSXLeopard but my site isn't quite running properly. The "client denied" access is preventing CSS and images from working in the TWiki data areas. (configure works perfectly).

So since Vicki's problem was solved, maybe one of the solutions in
TWikiWithApache2 should do the trick here as well?

I recommend putting twiki/pub into the Documents tree.
