Question
Hi Everyone.
I suppose I may be the newest member of the TWiki Community.
I recently loaded TWiki on our server, here:
http://www.coachuniverse.com/twiki/bin/view.cgi/Main/WebHome
I tried to configure it, but am having difficulty understanding all of what is involved. I know it is probably fairly straightforward, however I am new to Unix and Perl, and not really all that familiar with editing scripts.
My question is, would some kindhearted soul be willing to step forward and assist Coach Universe in getting our TWiki configured?
If you do respond, would you also kindly copy me at
mailto:mastercoach@coachuniversePLEASENOSPAM.com just so I am sure to receive your reply? Thanks very much.
Warmly,
DwayneCox

Answer
Hi Dwayne,
Sorry, I don't have the time to help you out (and I'm not that knowledgeable in any case) but I can vouch for the
TWikiInstallationGuide. It really is a good install doc, even if sometimes it must be read several times before some of the steps sink in. Just remember to take your time and carefully study each step.

This support question never showed up in the list because the

All you have to do is surf the wiki briefly and you'll be able to see

The question is, where can I look for some help in configuring it?
You need to configure the
.htaccess file so that the
edit.cfg and some other scripts are authenticated. More in
TWiki.TWikiInstallationGuide, Enabling Authentication of Users.

Thanks, Matt, and Peter, thanks very much. I'll give it a try. Sure could use some handholding though.

WebChanges does seem to be working OK on your site. I think that the Diffs feature is not, so you might want to investigate that a bit more - try typing
rcs -v to see if
RCS is installed.
Please post any other specific problems you are having, and we'll try to sort them out.
Also, try downloading the latest testenv tool from
CVSget:bin/testenv
and installing in
twiki/bin - this will give you a lot more information about your system, including tests for
RCS and Perl versions. Once you've done this, please post the URL here so I can check it out.
