Question

Will users lose their edits if I restart the apache server while they are in the process of editing pages? Are there any gotchas to be aware of when restarting the web server?

Answer

You should be fine. HTTP is stateless, Apache can safely be restarted between a topic edit and a save. However, an error/timeout occure if there is an Apache restart while a user saves a topic. Simply trying again should solve the issue.
