Question

  • TWiki version: 3 August 2002
  • Perl version: 5.6.1
  • Web server & version: Apache 1.3.22
  • Server OS: e-smith 5.5 (based on RH 7.3)
  • Web browser & version: Any
  • Client OS: Any

I'm sure I've overlooked something obvious. How do you copy a topic?

Typical Example:

I have created a topic and over time the information has grown to the point where I want to split it up into two or more parts. I could view a topic with "&raw=1" and then paste this into another browser window. But this seems rather clumsy. I thought there must be a more straight forward way of doing it but I can't seem to find it.

Answer

There is a patch for the oopsmore.tmpl template in CloneTopicLinkUnderMore, which does exactly this.

If you want to clone a topic by hand (especially if you're "just" a user with no server acces) though, the trivial way is:

If the page you want to clone is:

Then to clone that as MyNewPage, you would type:

That copies everything, except attachments. (the latter is AFAIK, I've not tried topics with attachments as template topics)
