Question
I registered; but email could not be sent because I had not properly configured my SMTP host in the Web Preferences. (The docs weren't clear on this

So... do I have a password? How do I find it?
I've never seen a login authentication dialog. I've just been playing, setting things up, etc..
but now I have changed "my" home page to be writable only by me (
VickiBrown) and I have no clue how to BECOME "VickiBrown". Do I have to reinstall everything?
HELP!
I have found the bin/.htaccess file and edited it to point to the TWiki/data/.htpasswd file (another thing I "missed in the installation instructions). I have even edited the .htpasswd file to add an entry for myself ("borrowed" from another site htpasswd file). To no avail. I quit my browser (this is getting old) and come back... always as Guest, wiith no opportunity to log in.

Answer
I found the information in the Installation Guide. It came AFTER "Finish up from your browser". Well, duh. sigh.
I made an addition to the FAQ question about How do I Log Off (if I was confused, perhaps other people will be confused too).
I ultimatel;y copied the data, lib, pub, and templates subdirs as a fresh installation and started over. I got into a bad situation where my user name was both "already registered" and 'unknown".

To remove a user delete the user's home page (.txt and .txt,v files) and remove the entry from the .htpasswd file.
