Question
When I first created our TWiki, I thought it would be a good idea to create a separate web for my organization's documentation, etc. But what I really need is a way to make the wiki as clean and simple as possible. I do not want users to become lost in other webs. I do not want to have to edit the default home page for the Main web to be containing a link to our web. I would instead like users to simply type in the hostname, like wiki.company.local and have it come up with our home page. Forgive me if this sounds naive...
If I simply wipe out the home page and make that our top level, I run into problems because people try to search from that page and it does not find any content in our web. Also, I worry that if I delete the top level pages, I will not be able to find the configure page again. What I would probably like to do is set up the server so my internal company's web is actually the document root for
http://wiki.mycompany.local
and yet have Main remain accessible through some administrative url.
Sorry, I am rambling...but I think it would be helpful if someone could describe how they set up their wiki to be useful for the typical user--where "typical user" means a person who has never used a wiki before. I think I need to hide all the complex features because there are just too many things to click on for most users to process. But I don't want to lose those links for myself.

Answer
If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.
I see this question has been asked many times in many ways without any satisfactory answers. I will muddle through and perhaps someday post a real answer.
