Question

Hello,

I need to know how to turn off the capability for our users to update the wiki temporarily. We're going to be doing a server backup and need to have this off for a period of time before backups to make sure we capture everything.

I've poked around for about an hour and haven't been able to find how to do this. Thanks for your help!

Answer

ALERT! If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.

  • Set a BROADCASTMESSAGE in your Main.TWikiPreferences (copy over from TWiki.TWikiPreferences), telling users that update is disabled for maintenace
  • Set access restriction to allow only TWiki admins (optional)
  • Or, in twiki/bin directory, rename edit to edit.DISABLE, same for save, attach, upload, register, manage (optional)
