Question
Hello,
I have a twiki installed on one machine, its version is Version: 02 Sep 2004 $Rev: 1742.
And I have another twiki installed on a different machine, Its version is Tue, 04 Jul 2006 build 10807, Plugin API version 1.1 (The latest)4.0.4.
I would like to port the data from the first (older) twiki to the second (newer) twiki, I do not mind losing the data I have now on the second twiki.
What is the right way for porting the data?
Thank You,
Micky

Answer
If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.
Simply copy all the webs you need to the new TWiki installation, except for the TWiki documentation (TWiki web). To copy a web, copy the
data/Webname and
pub/Webname to the new TWiki, fix the file permissions, and remove the
RCS lock (see
TWiki04.TWikiUpgradeGuide for details)
Also, check the
_default web in the new TWiki, and copy relevant system topics from it to the webs copied over from the older TWiki installation.

Forget about
debug.txt,
warning.txt,
mime.types. If you want to preserve the TWiki access logs, copy the
log*txt files.
You can copy any web (or part of web) you want over to the new installation, such as Main web, Sandbox web and your own webs. Do not copy the TWiki web.

TWiki has now an easy
point & click solution to upgrade TWiki with the help of the
BackupRestorePlugin.
