Question
I upgraded. Apparently some things went silently wrong because I had to copy my data and pub trees by hand. My
LocalLib.cfg file was created with one line in it.
I copied the files, I copied the htpasswd file, I ran the rcs command (which doesn't work as given on
FreeBSD
I copied in the rest of the
LocalLib.cfg file.
My pages look awful - spacing is very bad. I cannot edit my personal page (it tells me I don't have permission).
I've reverted to Sept2003 in confusion and disappointment. Ideas welcome.
Update: I deleted the new tree and, after several (and I do mean several) tries, I finally seem to have a properly upgraded system. The spacing is still weird but it's the "new" weird. My
UserList.txt file didn't get imported; I had to do that manually. Some other things were goofed up but I'm better off than I was. Still wish I knew why everything came apart the firstfew times...
Did you use
UpgradeTWiki? Why did you have to copy data and pub trees?
Anyway, it looks as though you have been able to upgrade ok, so I'm closing this.

Vicky, Your 'new' look doesn't look right.
I had the same spacing problems when upgrading . In my case, manually installing all the
PatternSkin files for Dakar fixed that. I made some small changes to my Cairo
PatternSkin, so i suspect that that was why it didn't get upgraded correctly.

to Crawford: I used
UpgradeTWiki. It failed. I had to do some copying to get my data.
Jon had the right answer. I don't recall changing my Cairo
PatternSkin but reinstalling fixed all of the problems.

UpgradeTwiki failed me again in the 4.0.3 upgrade. I had to manually copy my Main/WebHome, Main/TWikiUsers, Main/TWikiAdminGroup, and lib/LocalSite. One would think these would have been properly handled. I also had to, once again, install
PatternSkin from the download package.

How did it fail? I'm curious what error message (if any) you got. Its definitly should have migrated the webs for you.

I don't get error messages (at least I don't see any). I simply don't have the correct set of previously modified files when I next access the TWiki - "default" Main/Webhome (yuck), no access for editing because my
AdminGroup file is default, that sort of thing. The webs are almost migrates but files in Main that I have edited from the defauklts are not migrated/merged properly. Most disconcerting.
